Borrowed Noveys car today and went to San Jose to visit Winchester House which is an Historical Landmark This house is said to be the strangest in the world and belonged to Mrs Sarah Winchester whose husband amassed a fortune through manufacturing the Winchester rifle. When her husband died she purchased an 8 room farmhouse in San Jose and spent the next 38 years continually rebuilding and renovating. When she died she had spent $5,000,000 and had added 160 rooms. We had a tour guide escort us around this house and as he said you could easily get lost with many staircases, rooms off rooms, doors to nowhere, rooms that don’t have any significance, stairs that lead to the ceiling and chimneys that stop short of the roof. It was a dark dreary house and would have been a nightmare to live in. After visiting this house, I’m sure we have now seen everything.
