24 Saturday We spent today in San Francisco city. Our first stop was the Exploratorium which is a hands on science museum. There was so much to do and see here that we had to call it quits after about 3 hours without actually seeing it all. Brendan drove the steep Lombard Street. We parked and walked down the wriggly road – the worlds crookedest street with a gradient of 27%. The zigzags were added to help cars drive the steep hill. We were keen to then catch a cable car back up Lombard St but the queue to get on was horrendous so we ended up in walking up the hill to the car. Brendan then drove down the wriggly road. The final destination for today was the Painted Ladies in Alamo Square. These most photographed old houses with San Francisco city in the background are found on many postcards. It was so great seeing them with our own eyes. They were so picturesque. There was a bare patch on the park grass where probably thousands and thousands of people have stood and taken photos. We also stood on this bare patch and took photos. Now it was back to the 101 freeway and back to Mountain View.
