In the morning while Raewyn and Brendan went out for\u00a0yet more shopping, Sally and I took Calvin for a walk to the local park with\u00a0swings and slides and other fun things for grandchildren. The reason for the\u00a0rather serious expression we found out later was that we had gone to a park\u00a0he was unfamiliar with. The history of Stanford makes very interesting reading.<\/p>\n<p>Later when we were visiting San Francisco city I bought a book which also\u00a0had various interesting accounts of the university\u2019s origins. We saw two or\u00a0three wedding parties using the grounds and buildings for photographic\u00a0backdrops. Vern and I did a short walk to one of\u00a0the feature waterfalls that was almost dry, but Raewyn and Brendan decided\u00a0to carry on for a much longer walk which culminated in a good view across\u00a0the Bay. Sally was suffering quite badly from a cold so we were quite happy\u00a0to wait in the car for their return.
