19 Monday Today we set off on our five day tour. Our first stop was the Calavera Big Tree Park. Found our way here with the help of the GPS Raewyn was operating. We had to pay to see the Giant Sequoias, but it was well worth the money. The track we followed was very well maintained and the trees were absolutely enormous. We learned a lot about these trees from the many signposts dotted along the route. Our destination for tonight was Mariposa (a convenient place to stay before entering Yosemite National Park). On the way we stopped at some springs. Raewyn and Brendan decided to walk down to them but as it was so hot Vern and I stayed up by the car. Just as well, as by all accounts it was a very steep walk and they were both knackered when they arrived back. Found a Super 8 Motel in Mariposa ($75 + tax each).
