18 Tuesday
Decided to drive into San Francisco today to visit the Golden Gate Park and maybe the Emporium. Although the weather was fine, sunny and warm when we left at about 9:30, by the time we got up to around Daly City the fog was starting to sweep in over the hills with a noticebly cool chill to it. We went up highway 101 then turned west onto highway 280 in order to get onto the 580 and then highway 1 and then up into the park. Made one wrong turning and had to back track to correct it which we did ok. At the Golden Gate Park we made for the Arts Centers and gardens, but the parking problem was so bad that we spent a good part of an hour trying to find somewhere to park that was within reasonable walking distance.  In the process of course we also made a grand tour of the park. The Conservatory of Flowers was closed for repair so we investigated the western side of the park, but found it was of equestrian interest only. Eventually we found somewhere to park near the gardens and after a much needed rest room visit and a shared ham and cheese sandwich plus a cup of coffee,

Hotdogs, pigeons and lunch

we set off to visit the Japanese Tea Gardens and the Botanical Gardens, both of which were interesting to stroll around. Saw the New Zealand, Australian and South African section of trees and plants in the gardens.

Back in Mountain View with the temperature back up the scale again I went for a long walk around the neighbourhood while Sally relaxed.
