Date: Description: Wnagateau Harbour taken from Nellies hill and showing Smiths Landing between the two pohutukawa trees bottom right. I think the photo was taken in the early 1960s (Point Wells is well established and there are several trees on Horseshoe Island) I think the reason for taking this photo was to establish a record of how far the sandspit point had encroached into the harbour as there was much debate at that time about whether the point was receeding or growing.
